The audit, tax and advisory firm Grant Thornton LLP has named a new partner-in-charge of its New Jersey market, and promoted another staff member to a managing director’s role in the Iselin office, it announced Tuesday.

Matthew DiDonato will serve as partner-in-charge in the Garden State, as part of a firm-wide series of changes that included the admission of 39 new partners and principals and promotion of 28 managing directors.

“Matt is thoroughly invested in the growth of our New Jersey practice,” Frank Kurre, Northeast regional managing partner, said in a prepared statement. “He will do a fantastic job leading our teams in practice development and community involvement.”

DiDonato is a state and local tax partner, as well as leader of the firm’s Northeast state and local tax practices. The licensed attorney has more than 20 years of public accounting, private industry and state and local tax law experience, Grant Thornton said.

Bridget McCann, meanwhile, will be income and franchise tax managing director in the Iselin location.

“We are also proud to recognize Bridget as a managing director, and grateful to both Matt and Bridget for their commitment to helping build our high-performance culture in the New Jersey marketplace,” Kurre said.

Formerly a senior manager, McCann joined the firm in 2002 and has more than 14 years of experience advising clients on multistate corporate income tax matters, the firm said. She is a certified public accountant.
