Blue Apron closing Jersey City site as it expands in Linden; 1,200 workers have chance to transfer

By ,

Blue Apron, a leading fresh meal kit delivery company based in New York City, announced plans this week to close its Jersey City operations as it expands its new facility in Linden this fall.

“As we scale up operations at our new Linden fulfillment center, we are ramping down our Jersey City facility,” a spokesperson for the company said. “Our Linden location is a brand new, 495,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility that we expect will enable us to execute on our product expansion strategy.”

All 1,270 Jersey City employees have been offered the opportunity to transfer to a “same or comparable position” in Linden, according to the company.

“Approximately 800 of (those) employees already have indicated they will be transferring,” the spokesperson said. “We hope that the remainder of our Jersey City employees will join us in Linden, as their knowledge and experience is invaluable.”
