Livingston-based Sterling Properties recently announced it has received approval to develop a four-story luxury apartment building in Somerville.
The property, named SOMA, will be located at 11 South Bridge St. and be within walking distance of the NJ Transit Somerville Station Division and Main streets.
“There are many factors we consider when choosing new development opportunities, topped by demand, location and a high level of commutability,” Nick Hollenbeck, director of sales and marketing for Sterling Properties, said. “SOMA has all these attributes and an energetic downtown with great restaurants and retail.”
The building, which was designed by Comito Associates and interior design firm Mary Cook Associates, will house 69 units ranging from 585 square feet to 1,290 square feet. Construction is set to begin this spring. Residents of SOMA will have access to a fitness center and tech lounge.
“Much of our focus has been on transit-oriented communities in livable and walkable locations,” Jeffrey Garfinkel, director of acquisitions for Sterling, said. “SOMA, for example, is just down the block from Somerville Station which provides easy access into Newark Penn Station and New York City.”
The development of SOMA is part of a larger strategy by Sterling Properties, which has 1,000 homes under construction or planned for 2018.
