Medinol, a cardiology device company headquartered in Israel with its U.S. commercial offices in New Jersey, announced it has appointed Harvey J. Berger to executive chairman of Parsippany-based Medinol US, effective immediately.
Berger will join Medinol’s global management team in areas of business management, global strategy, new business and technology initiatives. He will also work with Medinol’s cardiovascular devices and other products.

Dr. Berger, a physician-scientist and biotechnology business-leader, brings over 35 years of professional experience to Medinol following successful academic and business careers in cardiology, oncology and life sciences,” Dr. Judith Richter, CEO of Medinol, said in a statement.
Berger has held senior academic and administrative roles, including a tenured professor at Emory University, Yale University and the University of Pennsylvania. He was also an established investigator of the American Heart Association.

Berger also founded ARIAD in 1991. From 1986 to 1991, Berger held senior roles at Centocor Inc., including executive vice president and president of the research and development division.
