Tom Hughes, a stellar sales executive with longtime ties to the New Jersey business community, has assumed the publisher duties at NJBIZ, it was announced by the organization's parent company, BridgeTower Media.
Hughes, who came to NJBIZ as its director of advertising and sponsorship sales in March 2015, has led NJBIZ to record revenue numbers in print, digital and sponsorship sales.
Hughes has more than two decades of experience in the media industry, having previously served in sales and business development roles at The Star-Ledger and the New York Times. He also founded and ran his own marketing firm.
Hughes will assume the title of associate publisher.
The promotion was one of three announced by the company.
Chris DeCellio has been elevated to director of operations for BridgeTower Media. DeCellio had served as the manager for design and production of NJBIZ since March 2014.
Tom Bergeron was named director of product development for BridgeTower Media. Bergeron will continue in his role as editor of NJBIZ, a position he has held since June 2013.
The announcements come a few weeks after some promotions in the NJBIZ Editorial department. In January, Eric Strauss was named managing editor and Anjalee Khemlani was promoted to deputy managing editor.
