DeCotiis law firm adds partner, changes name

By ,

The law firm known as DeCotiis, FitzPatrick & Cole LLP has added a new name partner and, as a result, changed its name, it announced Monday.

The Teaneck-based regional firm, which has more than 60 attorneys, will now be called DeCotiis, FitzPatrick, Cole & Giblin LLP after bringing Vincent M. Giblin on board. Giblin, who has more than 20 years of legal experience, regularly appears as trial counsel in state and federal courts, the firm said. He has worked on complex federal litigation, white collar criminal defense and compliance matters for corporations and nonprofits.

“Mr. Giblin’s wide-ranging experience will serve as a foundational building block for growth, and he will provide continued expert counsel for our clients,” Joseph DeCotiis, the firm’s managing partner, said in a prepared statement.

The firm will bring on at least 10 new attorneys to bolster Giblin’s practice areas, it said.

“I am very excited about the opportunities presented by joining such a prominent and well-respected law firm,” Giblin said in a statement. “I am looking forward to continuing the expansions of our practice areas and delivering results for our clients.”

Before going into private practice, Giblin served as an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey. He also serves as outside general counsel for the International Union of Operating Engineers.

“The Giblin and DeCotiis families have long been well-known in both the legal profession and in public policy,” Michael DeCotiis, managing partner of the DeCotiis firm, said in a statement. “Having had close family and political ties for almost 40 years, it was a natural synergy for us to come together.”
