With the first of three residential towers situated next to the Journal Square PATH station in Jersey City now complete, the mixed-use Journal Squared project will begin leasing rental space in February 2017.

Developed by Kushner Real Estate Group and National Real Estate Advisors, the project ultimately calls for 1,838 residential units and approximately 36,000 square feet of retail dining space with direct access to the transit hub.

The now completed 53-story tower will offer 538 rentable residential units. The two other towers will stand at 63 stories and 71 stories, respectively.

Marc Kushner and Matthias Hollwich of Hollwich Kushner, along with Handel Architects, designed the project.

“We look forward to opening Journal Squared, the first new development in Journal Square, in the new year,” KRE President Jonathan Kushner said in a statement. “We’re excited to join this historic Jersey City neighborhood, and to be part of the tremendous growth that is to come over the next few years.”

The completed towers are set to also include indoor and outdoor pools, a gym and top-floor “sky lounges” with panoramic views.

Past estimations have noted that between construction and eventual full-time opportunities, the project will create roughly 700 jobs in the city.
