Commercial real estate services firm Levin Management Corporation said recently that it has experienced strong leasing volume in several Northeast and mid-Atlantic markets in 2016.

The North Plainfield-based firm said in a news release that it has completed about 531,000 square feet of lease transactions during the past nine months. The firm said it closed nearly 421,000 square feet of retail deals, as well as a 110,000-square-foot industrial lease.

“The retail real estate industry is again in expansion mode, with strengthened tenant leasing activity boosting occupancies at well-located properties,” President Matthew K. Harding said in a prepared statement. “While traditional retail segments, such as grocery and discount stores, continue as active shopping center mainstays, fitness chains, health care tenants and fast-casual restaurants are emerging as significant players in our market area, as well.”

Levin said recent retail leases included a 41,300-square-foot signing by Raymour & Flanigan in Paramus and a 15,650-square-foot lease by West Marine in Woodbridge.

Finally, Levin, which also manages properties, arranged a 110,000-square-foot lease by Armouth International Inc. in Piscataway.

The firm said it had won several assignments during the time period, and has hired and promoted a number of employees this year.
