NAIOP New Jersey honors some of real estate industry's finest at awards dinner

NAIOP New Jersey, the state chapter of the national developers' trade association, honored a number of big names in New Jersey real estate community at its annual President's Awards and Hall of Fame Dinner, held last week at the Short Hills Hilton.

The organization presented five awards and two scholarships during the program, as well as inducting its 2016 class into the Hall of Fame.

“Tonight’s honorees have made countless contributions to our association and to our industry,” NAIOP N.J. CEO Michael McGuinness said during the ceremony. “We celebrate their volunteerism, which is the backbone of this organization, their tireless advocacy on public policy issues and the vital role they play in shaping the commercial real estate industry.”

The awards and honors included:

  • The NAIOP New Jersey Legacy Award for service to the industry and advocacy for chapter issues: the late Joseph McNamara of the New Jersey Laborers’ Employers Cooperation and Education Trust, accepted by his wife, Ellen McNamara.
  • The Pillar Award for the example set in active membership, leadership, advocacy and sponsorship: Kim Brennan of Colliers International and Bill Hanson of NAI James E. Hanson.
  • The Advocacy Award for work on the chapter’s key public policy issues: Terrance Huettl of Whitesell Construction.
  • The Volunteer of the Year Award: Jeff Greif of First American Title.
  • The Rising Star Award: Kelsey Nakamura of Cushman & Wakefield.
  • The Frank D. Visceglia Memorial Scholarship for youth involved in scouting whose service projects demonstrate outstanding leadership skills: Dhanush Sureshbabu, Patriot’s Path Scout of Troop 50 in Randolph and Victoria Ieradi, member of Girl Scout Troop 22231 in Mount Laurel.
  • The NAIOP New Jersey Hall of Fame Class of 2016: Charles Klatskin of Forsgate Industrial Partners, Seena Stein of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank and Allen Magrini of Hartz Mountain Industries.

“As we reflect on all that has been accomplished by our honorees, I would like to thank each and every member who takes the time to get involved,” NAIOP N.J. President Clark Machemer said. “The efforts you make today will pay dividends for years to come.”

NAIOP said more than 300 people attended the celebration.
