Summit-based solar development and management company Nautilus Solar Energy LLC has named a new chief operating officer, it announced Tuesday.
Jeffrey Cheng comes to Nautilus from Stion Energy Services, where he served as CEO of the development arm of Stion Corporation. In his role as COO, he will oversee Nautilus’ business development initiatives, assist with market positioning and strategy, and handle alignment and prioritization of day-to-day operations and growth, the company said in a news release.
“Jeff comes to us with a solid background, where he’s run businesses and deployed a multitude of solar projects,” CEO Jim Rice said in a prepared statement. “He is uniquely qualified to drive our expansion here at Nautilus. With deep experience and domain knowledge in a combination of project financing, operations and … the (overall) solar industry, Jeff is a perfect fit for our organization, and we are excited that he is joining our expanding platform.”
Cheng’s experience also includes executive positions at Regenesis Power, as well as Piper Jaffray.
“With strong financial backing from Virgo Investments and a long history of success within the solar industry, the Nautilus platform is well-positioned for growth in the solar marketplace,” he said in a statement. “I’m excited about the many opportunities that (lie) in front of us. It’s also invigorating to work closely with the Nautilus executive team, whom I’ve had the privilege to know and work with for almost a decade.”
