The Edison Towne Square retail and dining complex is getting two new tenants, according to developer Hartz Mountain Industries.
Both ubiquitous coffeehouse chain Starbucks and gourmet burger restaurant Zinburger will open in the spring/summer of 2017 at the property on Route 1, the Secaucus-based real estate company said.
“Starbucks and Zinburger are welcome additions to the Edison community,” Mayor Thomas Lankey said in a prepared statement. “Along with Topgolf International, which is now under construction, Edison Towne Square is destined to become a vibrant entertainment venue and attractive shopping destination for area residents and countless visitors to our area.
“These new openings at Edison Towne Square will strengthen our regional economy, bringing a significant number of temporary construction jobs, permanent retail and services jobs, and by generating more trickle-down consumer spending throughout our area.”
The Starbucks will include a drive-through, Hartz Mountain added.
“Both Starbucks and Zinburger are strong, ‘household name’ brands that distinguish themselves in the marketplace,” Gus Milano, Hartz Mountain’s president and chief operating officer, said in a statement. “Zinburger redefined the burger business by pairing reasonably priced wine with gourmet burgers. Starbucks pioneered the concept of the upscale barista-tended coffee bar.
“The drive-through window at Starbucks is a feature of the newer stores, and we anticipate that to be very well received.”
