Coyne PR, founded in 1991 by Tom Coyne, is full-service, integrated communications agency.

A carnival for creative professionals

Coyne PR’s office is a breeding ground for friendly competition. A pool table, foosball and a putting green surrounded by a mural of a fairway at Knoll Golf Club in Boonton are just a few of the games found among the more traditional workspaces. Cornhole boards are still set up after a six-week tournament, complete with an elaborate bracket system of elimination.

“The culture around here is very family-like,” said Silvio Bonvini, a vice president at Coyne PR. “We are close like a family, but also competitive like brothers and sisters.”

There are two kitchen areas where happy hours and client lunches are served. But they also are the scenes for culinary competitions, such as a chili cook-off and a “guac-off” competition held before Super Bowl Sunday.

The office has a “Zen Den” outfitted with three oversized massage chairs and a small nail salon where the agency brings in a manicurist once a week.

The company moved into its current space three years ago. Prior to doing so, the leadership surveyed the staff for ideas on what amenities they would appreciate having in the new space, which led to many of the cool perks it has today.

While it may appear to be a space designed purely with fun and games in mind, within a 15-minute tour of the 35,000-square-foot office space, at least four different meetings and brainstorming sessions popped up in the decked-out common areas. The games and amenities attract employees away from their desks to collaborate and share ideas with colleagues.

In addition to providing a cool place to come to work, Coyne offers his employees many other uncommon benefits. The company reimburses employees for medical co-payments and gives two days of paid time off to do charity work of the employees’ choice. Coyne PR is also a supporter of Community FoodBank of New Jersey.

Many of the contests sanctioned by the agency reward employees with prizes of cash and vacations.

Coyne believes that happy employees do great work and great work attracts great clients. With Disney Parks and Resorts, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and David’s Bridal as clients, his philosophy is working. In July, Coyne PR is taking over another 7,000 square feet at 5 Wood Hollow Road.
