COOLEST OFFICES: Kaufman Zita Group 400 Sullivan Way | West Trenton, NJ 08628 | kaufmanzitagroup.com
The Kaufman Zita Group is one of the top government lobbying firms in the state.
THE COOL FACTOR
According to Adam Kaufman, co-founder and principal of the Kaufman Zita Group, the commuter and freight trains rolling by his office’s windows make for a relaxing view.
Originally built in 1929 by the Reading Railroad, the train station the Kaufman Zita Group calls home has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1984.
“You have to respect the history of the building,” Kaufman said. “It was built during a time when public buildings were built in a grand style. Even small, utilitarian buildings like train stations had flourishes.”
The train station had been converted into an office space 20 years ago by an architectural firm that purchased the space. However, when the Kaufman Zita Group bought the building in 2012, it made extensive renovations so the space could work for its needs.
“The space is certainly a source of personal satisfaction,” Kaufman said. “We not only saw the building for what it was, but for what it could be. We were able to take the open space and create the private rooms we needed for our business. We were also able to make the updates necessary for the building to be functional for the way we work today while preserving the historic flourishes.”
THE BUSINESS CASE
“This building has a lot of presence and a lot of personality,” Kaufman said. The train station has become an emblem for the firm in the community. It is a place for clients to admire and employees to appreciate.
