Boonton biotech makes changes in leadership

By ,

Boonton-based biotechnology company Enteris BioPharma Inc. has named a new CEO and chief operating officer, it announced Tuesday.

Enteris said in a news release that it has named Joel Tune as CEO and promoted Paul Shields from vice president of operations to chief operating officer. The two will work with Brian Zietsman, the company’s president and chief financial officer, to pursue opportunities involving Enteris’ proprietary oral delivery technology and other products.

“Enteris BioPharma is poised to return significant value in 2016 and beyond, as the efforts of all our employees, under the leadership of Brian and Paul, have the company well-positioned with multiple growth opportunities,” Tune said in a prepared statement. “As CEO, my goal is to work internally and externally to accelerate this growth trajectory and capitalize on our industry-leading suite of technologies.”

Tune, who has been Eneteris’ executive chairman since April 2014, has more than 35 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Most recently, he has been an adviser to early state and small pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies.

Shields had been VP of operations since the company was founded in July 2013. He has more than 24 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry.
