Alfred Sanzari Enterprises announced Thursday it officially broke ground on a new hotel at its mixed-use Glenpointe complex in Teaneck.

The 350-room dual-branded hotel will feature 190 Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton rooms and 160 Homewood Suites by Hilton units. Both brands will share the same entrance way, meeting rooms, fitness center and parking garage.

“This new hotel will bring additional lodging options to the region; generate numerous construction jobs and permanent hospitality-related positions; and produce long-term sustainable benefits for the Township of Teaneck,” David Sanzari, Alfred Sanzari Enterprises’ CEO and president said in a prepared statement. “We strongly believe this product will further strengthen Glenpointe’s position in our marketplace for many years to come, and at the same time, be a tremendous asset to the community.”

The 13-story hotel will be located near I-95 and the corner of Glenwood Avenue.

“I would like to thank David Sanzari and Alfred Sanzari Enterprises for their ongoing commitment to our township,” Teaneck Mayor Lizette P. Parker said in a prepared statement. “This is a very exciting project that will generate additional tax revenues for Teaneck. We look forward to welcoming additional visitors to Teaneck, who hopefully will patronize our many wonderful businesses and utilize our beautiful parks. This day signifies the beginning of another great partnership, and we couldn’t be more excited.”

According to Hilton, a growing trend in hotels today is to pair an extended stay brand with a short stay counterpart.

“We are thrilled to be expanding our portfolio into this market and look forward to becoming a partner in the Teaneck community,” Robert Giardino, senior director of development – Northeast region for Hilton Worldwide, said in a prepared statement. “With 350 combined rooms, this project marries two unique brands into one hotel connected by shared public spaces. It will provide both the leisure and corporate traveler with two distinct stay options allowing them greater choice and control over their stay.”

White Lodging, an independent hotel owner based in Merrillville, Indiana, will manage the hotel.

“Guests will see one building with two well-known and well-respected hotel brands,” Brandon Frederick, White Lodging regional vice-president, said in a prepared statement.

He expects the hotel will create 85 local jobs when it opens.
