South Jersey water park announces $4M expansion

By ,

A South Jersey water park is set to embark on a $4 million expansion.

The operator, Sahara Sam’s Oasis in West Berlin, said it is breaking ground on a 10,000-square-foot expansion to the indoor year-round section of the complex, adding to the existing 7,000-square-foot facility. The project is the water park’s second major capital project in two years and is expected to be open in May.

The new section of the water park will include two additional water slides and a family leisure pool, according to a news release. The slides are head-first, mat racers manufactured by Proslide Technology Inc. and will allow guests to race one another down 300-foot-long courses, dispatching from an enclosed 4 story indoor tower.

The expansion has been designed by Aquatic Development Group, the news release said.

"We are really looking forward to breaking ground on this expansion," Ilya Girlya, CEO of Sahara Sam's, said in a prepared statement. "As a leading entertainment destination, it's paramount that we continue to build upon the experience we provide our guests. The addition of two high speed slides and a new integrated family pool is exciting for our visitors and ensures every visit to Sahara Sam's is a new experience."

Sahara Sam’s, which opened in March 2009, is located next door to the construction-themed adventure park known as Diggerland USA.
