What are the Top 5 privately held companies in each county?

By ,

Among the NJBIZ Top 100 Privately Held Companies, there are certainly geographic patterns that can be picked out. Bergen and Morris counties with their bevy of corporate headquarters, or Essex County and its many big-name law firms, are well-represented on the list. But nearly every one of New Jersey's 21 counties has at least a handful of prominent privately held firms that it can call its own.

Using its expanded database of companies, NJBIZ has broken out the Top 5 privately held companies for each county.

In some cases, some members of the Top 100 didn’t make the cut; in others, a Top 5 company didn’t make the Top 100 overall. Finally, some counties simply lacked the representation to stand alone.

Nevertheless, the resulting list is an interesting portrait of what companies and what industries are making money around the state.

The Top 5 companies for each county are listed in order of 2014 global revenue and include:

  • Name
  • Location
  • Industry
  • Global revenue (rounded)
  • Overall ranking (statewide)
