Achievements: Taking over leadership of the New Jersey Restaurant Association after it lost a longtime leader; developing a five-year plan for the organization to address the changing needs of the restaurant industry; serving 15 years on the board of the New Jersey Travel Industry Association, and 14 years as commissioner of the Legalized Games of Chance Control Commission; volunteering her event-planning expertise to help raise money for 180 Turning Lives Around, a nonprofit dedicated to ending domestic and sexual violence.

Role model: “My mom taught me the importance of a balanced life. To be truly happy, you need a balanced life: a successful career (or whatever else you choose to do), time with your family and friends, and time for yourself.”
Go-to stress buster: “A five-minute meditation or a piece of chocolate.”
What do you wish someone had told you when you were first starting out in business? “The importance of organizational skills. Sometimes, we get so busy that we forget to keep ourselves organized, and tasks get away from us. Also, don’t overcommit. Women have a hard time saying no.”
