Achievements: Becoming the first woman chairman of Lakeland Bank and, in that role, overseeing the bank’s expansion; financing and constructing homes for the developmentally challenged; sponsoring fundraisers and other events for nonprofits, including the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice Center and the Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center in Sarasota, Fla.; providing employment opportunities at her peach farm through a work-release program serving troubled adults.

Education: Attended Paterson State College, Morris County Community College and Sussex County Community College.

Go-to stress buster: “I take a 10- or 15-minute break to plan a party. Be it a small dinner party for four, a Super Bowl party for family and friends or a polo match tailgating party for 30, planning and preparing directs my attention from the stress of the moment. Focusing on quality time with family and friends puts work pressures into perspective for me.”

What do you wish someone had told you when you were first starting out in business? “The frustration with the amount of time and energy consumed on government regulation and compliance in both the banking and building industries.”
