Ariane Daguin D’Artagnan, Founder and CEO
Achievements: Co-founding D’Artagnan, a pioneering supplier of organic, free-range meats, preservative-free foods and humanely raised livestock; expanding the company’s reach from restaurants into grocery stores; supporting food-based charities such as Table to Table, City Harvest and Citymeals-on-Wheels.
Education: Undergraduate work at Le Mirail, in Toulouse, France, and Barnard College.
Technologies that help nurture and sustain professional relationships: “None. D’Artagnan’s roots are based on human relationships built over the years with direct contacts, whether it is visiting farmers on their property or having dinner in our clients’ establishments.”
What change would make workplaces friendlier to work-life balance? “We just bought a much bigger warehouse and office, to move in June. The first thing we’re putting in place is a high-tech lunch-break kitchen demo, and a gym.”
What do you wish someone had told you when you were first starting out in business? “I wish I had understood sooner that there is nothing more important than your team. In the way of ‘The Three Musketeers,’ the philosophy of all for one and one for all is powerful and paramount to the growth of the business.”
