By ,

Ipsen, which has facilities in Basking Ridge, on Wednesday announced that Cynthia Schwalm has been named president and CEO of Ipsen N.A., overseeing all commercial and medical affairs operations for its North American business.

Schwalm joined the specialty pharmaceutical company in February, the company said in a news release. She has 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical devices industries.

“Cynthia’s wealth of global experience across the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries uniquely positions her to continue to build upon the growing momentum Ipsen is experiencing in North America and internationally,” Marc de Garidel, chairman and CEO, Ipsen, said in the release. “We remain committed to strengthening our U.S. presence and positioning the company for the level of success in the U.S. that we have achieved elsewhere.”

Ipsen is preparing to launch its first oncology product in the U.S. in 2015, a potential treatment for gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors.
