Pompton Plains-based Entel Systems Inc. has purchased New York-based telecom company Midatlantic Telecom, effective Monday, Aug. 18, it said in a news release.

The technology solutions firm said Wednesday that it is expanding its telephone service operations through the deal.

“Although we have always had a New York presence, this move is part of our long-range strategic plan for business expansion and revenue growth,” Entel Vice President Don Giordano said in the release.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
