Meg, very interesting points raised. As a work-life balance coach with many female clients, and being attentive to, dare I say the word anymore, feminist issues in general, I see that dreaming of entrepreneurship is often difficult for women in the U.S. because of confidence, often also with the bio-clock in the mix. Should definitely be room made on the cultural and political-economic levels for women to rise to whatever leadership and financial positions are out there on equal footing. However, there are relatively few CEO positions, and there are real advantages, such as the ones you outlined to entrepreneurship. Equality of opportunity and choice should exist, and then women will be able to go wherever their muse and self-marketing savvy takes them without inequality.
