Aqua America’s New Jersey subsidiary has purchased the Summit Lakes municipal water system assets from Sparta Township, it said recently.

The company, which is based in Pennsylvania, said in a news release Friday that it paid $10,000 for the system, which serves approximately 225 people in Stockholm in Sussex County. It will become part of Aqua New Jersey’s Northern Division.

“Our new Summit Lakes customers will benefit from the economies of scale that result from our operations in four other nearby communities in Sussex County,” Aqua America Chairman Nicholas DeBenedictis said in the release.
