Broadcom issues WARN notice affecting 51 workers

By ,

Broadcom, a maker of semiconductors for wired and wireless communications, issued a WARN notice to workers this week, saying 51 jobs in Matawan would be affected as of Sept. 26.

On Wednesday, a spokeswoman for the company, which has its headquarters in Metropark South II in the borough, confirmed Broadcom had notified workers under the WARN Act, but declined to comment further.

WARN notices normally cover mass layoffs or facility closings as part of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act of 1989.
