J&J Snack Foods announces earnings

    Pennsauken-based J&J Snack Foods on Monday announced its sales and net earnings rose in its fiscal third quarter.

    The snack food company said sales rose 8 percent, to $257.1 million, from $237 million in the year-ago period, and net earnings rose 12 percent, to $23.7 million, from $21.2 million in 2013.

    Earnings per diluted share rose 13 percent, to $1.26, from $1.12 in Q3 2013.

    "All of our business groups contributed to our record quarter,” Gerald B. Shreiber, J&J's president and CEO, said in the release. “We had particular strong sales growth in our food service soft pretzel category, led by our newer products such as pretzel rolls and sticks. Our ICEE group also had record sales and earnings and our retail grocery group had higher earnings as well."
