The U.S. Small Business Administration announced Thursday that it has a new administrator for its Region II, which includes New Jersey.

Kellie LeDet will manage the SBA’s programs and services, including counseling, contracting and capital activities, in New Jersey, New York state, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

LeDet, who is a native of Long Branch and a resident of Neptune, most recently served as deputy chief of staff for U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez, the SBA said in a news release.

“I am honored to join SBA’s team of talented individuals who are committed to the development of small businesses across New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and USVI,” LeDet said in a statement. “As Regional Administrator, I look forward to leveraging SBA’s tools and programs to help create more opportunities for small businesses to succeed, create jobs, improve access to capital for the underserved and drive local and national economic growth.”
