Chatham-based real estate developer The Sudler Companies announced Thursday it is expanding its Lakewood Industrial Park with a new warehouse.
The speculative construction at 1001 New Hampshire Ave. will add a 140,000-square-foot structure to the 1.2 million-square-foot park, Sudler said in a news release. The park has been 100 percent leased since January, it added.
The warehouse is being built using “Tilt Up” construction, which involves building the concrete walls horizontally, then lifting them up to attach them to the foundation.
“We’ve had great success in Lakewood since the 1960s, so growing our industrial portfolio here just made sense,” Peter Sudler, president and CEO, said in the release. “Tilt Up Construction will make 1001 New Hampshire Avenue more functional for our tenants while giving its exterior a modern look that will stand out among the other warehouses that were built in the last century.”
Sudler and local official said they hope the new warehouse will bring new tenants, and thus new jobs, to Lakewood.
“Sudler has been an integral part of our community for decades and we are thrilled that they are creating new space to attract additional industry here,” Lakewood Mayor Menashe Miller said in a statement.
