I used to agree, believing that sound business practices (especially in long term planning, fiscal responsibility, and budgeting) would be more beneficial than the current lack of vision. But today the differences are narrowing - too many business leaders and politicians are focused on short term career enhancement and personal gain.

And how do you protect the populace you are charged to serve and protect when greed and power become the driving motivation (again being observed in both business and government).

Perhaps the best answer is a blend of the best of both. But as long as the enormity of wealth and power is a contributing factor I fear adopting a pure business approach to governing will be a sustainable solution.
