NBA legend Bill Walton has signed on as the voice of Wall-based NRG Home Solar, the company said in an announcement Wednesday.

“I am honored to be joining the NRG Home Solar team as we work to spread the exciting and important message about the benefits of solar power,” Walton said. “Residential solar represents an incredible opportunity for consumers, and NRG Home Solar is leading the charge in making inexpensive and renewable energy accessible to all homeowners with its unique customer-focused business model. I am thrilled to be a part of this critically vital program, and on this dynamic team.”

Walton is a two-time NBA champion, two-time NBA All Star and an NBA Hall of Fame inductee.  He’s been named one of the 50 Greatest NBA players of all time. Most recently, he’s worked as an NBA commentator for ABC, NBC and ESPN.

“We are ecstatic to welcome Bill to our team as we work to help more homeowners bring their homes into the future with cleaner, cheaper energy,” Kelcy Pegler Jr. of NRG Home Solar said in a statement. “Bill’s remarkable success on and off the court are a result of his passion, dedication and perseverance. We believe these admirable traits make him the ideal voice of a movement to change the way homeowners think about their energy use.”
