In a survey of brand trust among the nation’s largest residential utilities, one New Jersey power provider ranked in the top 15.
New Jersey Natural Gas scored 710 out of a possible 1,000 points in the Cogent Reports study, ranking it first in the East among natural gas providers — and all utilities in the region.
“By earning the trust of their customers, these companies are creating financial value in their brands,” Chris Oberle, lead author of the report, said in a news release. “While about 4 in 10 utilities in our survey are designated as Most Trusted Utility Brands, an even more select group of just 15 manage to achieve brand trust scores of at least 700 out of a possible score of 1,000.”
Atlantic City Electric also achieved a “most trusted” score above the 650 threshold, with its 667 mark good for fourth place in the East among electric utilities and sixth overall in the region.
This was the first Utility Trusted Brand & Customer Engagement study run by Cogent Reports, a unit of Market Strategies International. It asked 19,000 residential utility customers served by the 125 largest natural gas, electric and combination utilities nationwide about brand trust, as well as operational satisfaction and product experience, the release said.
