Sandvik Inc., the U.S. unit of the high-tech industrial and engineering group Sandvik AB, opened its new, 100,000-square-foot headquarters in Fair Lawn recently.
The formal opening of the $20 million project took place July 1 and attracted a number of officials, the company said in a news release. They included U.S. Rep. Scott Garrett (R-Wantage), Fair Lawn Mayor John Cosgrove and Sandvik CEO Olof Faxander.
“This is an important milestone and I am so pleased to commend Sandvik on this outstanding accomplishment,” Garrett said in a statement. “With its customer-centric approach to business and commitment to innovation, Sandvik has been a vital asset to New Jersey and the surrounding communities."
The congressman and mayor also touted Sandvik’s commitment to Fair Lawn, where it has been located since the 1950s.
The building contains a productivity center and aerospace application center for training and development, as well as office and meeting space.
