Public Service Electric and Gas Co. announced Wednesday it has upgraded its “Outage Map,” so customers can better track the status of power problems online.
PSE&G said in a news release that the mobile-friendly map will now provide more details about both power outages and when power will be restored. These include such information, when available, as the location of the outage; the number of customers affected; the time of the report and estimated time of service restoration; the cause of the outage; and the status of the repair work. PSE&G says the map will be updated every 15 minutes.
"Our customers have said they wanted more information about power outages, especially during storms like Sandy," John Latka, vice president of electric operations for PSE&G, said in the release. "With this major upgrade to our Outage Map, customers can now make more informed decisions for their family or their business during an outage."
PSE&G is New Jersey’s oldest regulated gas and electric delivery utility.
The Outage Map can be found online here.
