Bayer adds two communications execs in Whippany

Bayer Corporation announced Thursday that it has appointed two executives to newly created positions based in its Whippany offices.

Mark Bennett is now director of digital communications, while Joseph Hathaway is specialist of executive communications, the company said in a news release.

Bennett, who was most recently group director at public relations firm W2O Group, will develop and oversee digital communications and social media for Bayer in the U.S. Hathaway, who spent nearly four years working for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, will develop and implement external engagement for Bayer’s senior U.S. executives.

"Bennett is one of the premier digital communications experts in the United States, bringing unparalleled expertise and insight to Bayer,” Raymond F. Kerins, Jr., senior vice president and head of communications, government relations & policy for Bayer Corporation, said in the release. “Hathaway has spent his career supporting one of the nation's top governors, and he will serve Bayer well as we develop an executive engagement program that reaches all of our key audiences in the United States."    

They will report to Christopher Loder, vice president and head of external communications.

In addition, Bayer named Brian McCullough to the new position of director of operations for Bayer U.S. government relations. He is based in Washington, D.C.
