$350M logistics center coming to Linden

By ,

The North American subsidiary of an Australian company received entitlement approvals for a $350 million logistics center in Linden.

Goodman Birtcher, a unit of Goodman Group, will redevelop a 143-acre site in the city into more than 2.8 million square feet over five distribution warehouses, it said in a news release Wednesday.

“I’ve been working with Goodman Birtcher for more than 12 months and am very pleased that such a high quality developer intends to undertake the redevelopment of this site in Linden,” Mayor Richard Gerbounka said in the release. “This redevelopment project will not only serve as an economic benefit  to Linden and Union County, but Goodman Birtcher has also proven to be a corporate partner that will work closely with my administration to improve our residents’ quality of life.”

The Goodman Logistics Center Linden will be rolled out in three phases as part of a 15 million-square-foot development plan for facilities in California, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

“We are very pleased to announce the City of Linden’s entitlement approval for this significant redevelopment project in New Jersey, which will be our first in the Northeast,” Brandon Birtcher, CEO of Goodman Birtcher, said in the release. “It builds further momentum in the rollout of our $1.4 billion development program, targeting logistics locations across the U.S. at the right time to take advantage of the recovery in U.S. investment demand drivers and the limited supply of class A big box warehouse space.”

The land for the project was sourced through Cassidy Turley. The brokers were Larry Casey, Doug Bansbach and Andrew Houston.
