Munich Reinsurance America, Inc., announced Thursday that Steven Levy has been named president of the Reinsurance Division, effective October 1.

The Princeton-based insurer and reinsurer said in a news release that Levy will replace Pina Albo, who is joining Munich Re’s Board of Management in October. Levy had served as chief financial officer since 2003, and no replacement CFO has been named yet.

The Reinsurance Division is Munich Re’s marketing and underwriting unit that provides risk-transfer solutions for U.S. insurers.

“I am confident Steve’s financial background, proven leadership skills and strategic focus make him the right person to lead the division through current reinsurance market challenges, and to position the division for future success,” Tony Kuczinski, Munich Re America CEO and president, said in the release.
