N.J. Utilities Association awards industry's highest honor

By ,

The New Jersey Utilities Association announced Friday it has awarded the NJUA Distinguished Service Award, which is the utility industry's highest honor, to Karen Alexander, president and CEO of KAlexander Associates LLC.

Alexander was given the honor for “her leadership and accomplishments on behalf of New Jersey’s investor-owned utilities,” NJUA said.

She is the former president and CEO of the NJUA, where she was responsible for member relations, strategic planning, external communications, human resources, and finances, among others.  She also provided leadership to the 16 investor-owned member utility companies.

Prior to that, she was the president of the New Jersey Cable Telecommunications Association.

In 2012, Alexander left the NJUA to create her own consulting business, KAlexander Associates.

“Karen’s dedication to advancing sound public policy has been evident throughout her career,” Andrew Hendry, president and CEO of NJUA, said in a statement. “Her leadership, knowledge, commitment and passion for helping to shape environmental, energy, utility and telecommunications policy to serve the interests of those she represents and the greater community make her a deserving recipient of this year’s award.”

Alexander is the 26th recipient of the award, which was presented at the association’s 99th annual conference at Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club in Galloway.
