Global container company opens new facility in Bayonne

By ,

GCT Global Container Terminals Inc. announced Thursday that it has opened a new semi-automated container handling facility in Bayonne.

“Global Terminal will be the most productive marine terminal on the U.S. East Coast once complete in summer 2014,” according to the announcement.

The planning and construction of the newly expanded facility took four years and was designed with safety in mind.

“In all GCT’s operations, densification is our strategy to avoid the use of additional lands as container volumes grow,” said Stephen Edwards, president and CEO of GCT Global Container Terminals Inc. “With the modernized terminal now online, we look forward to providing the most productive capacity and capability to support our customers in realizing their growth plans.”
