Bell Labs offers $100K innovation prize

By ,

Bell Labs, headquartered in Holmdel, is offering a first place prize of $100,000 for proposals “that ‘change the game’ in the field of information and communications technologies by a factor of 10, and provides selected innovators the unique opportunity to collaborate with Bell Labs researchers to help realize their vision,” the company’s website says.

The contest also awards second and third place prizes at $50,000 and $25,000 respectively.

All three finalists will also be considered for the chance to work within the world-renowned Bell Labs to further explore their ideas.

The competition, which was opened on May 20, 2014, is comprised of two stages. The first stage includes the selection of 50 proposals, which will then be paired with Bell Lab researchers who will expand the idea and make it a reality. Secondly, 10 finalists will be selected to compete for the top three positions at an event scheduled for December 15, 2014.

The deadline for submission is July 15, 2014.
