Hackensack University Medical Center announced Wednesday that it had received Practice Greenhealth's 2014 Environmental Excellence Award, the organization's highest honor.
This marked HackensackUMC as one of the top 25 “green” hospitals in the nation. The award recognizes health care facilities that exemplify environmental excellence and set the highest standards of environmental practice.
“I want to congratulate our team members for achieving this impressive distinction,” Robert C. Garrett, president and chief executive officer of the Hackensack University Health Network, said in a news release. “It is a tangible reflection of our commitment to advancing our green initiatives and improving the lives of patients, team members and our community.”
The hospital also received the Making Medicine Mercury-Free Award for its commitment to eliminating mercury use.
