Honeywell lands systems contract

By ,

Honeywell’s Process Solutions unit announced Tuesday that it has been selected by Suncor Energy to provide automation systems for the multibillion-dollar Fort Hills Oil Sands project in Canada.

Honeywell will serve as the main automation contractor for the project, helping it to achieve productivity and operating efficiency goals. It will provide the technology to help integrate control and safety systems, manage alarms and utilize simulation software.

"Choosing an automation provider is a critical decision, one that you will live with for years to come," Frank Whitsura, vice president, Honeywell Process Solutions, said in a news release. "Honeywell has a proven track record of reducing risk on projects of this magnitude, delivering on-time and on-budget, and contributing to the ongoing safety, reliability and efficiency of the operation and lowering overall lifecycle costs."

Honeywell is based in Morris Township. This facility is expected to come on line in 2017.
