Medifirst Solutions announced Thursday a pair of developments that include the launch of a new division related to medical marijuana products.

The Freehold-based company’s Medi-Safe Products will focus on tamper-proof and child-proof packaging in states where marijuana has been legalized for medical use.

“Products such as all forms of edibles in addition to the cannabis itself will most likely require some form of tamper resistant packaging and our goal is to provide packaging solutions that meets both the retail needs and state requirements,” Bruce J. Schoengood, Medifirst’s chief executive officer, said in a news release.

Medifirst has recently announced a number of new ventures related to medical marijuana, including plans to launch an industry web portal and several publications.

In addition, Medifirst announced a business development deal with Native Holdings LLC, longtime partners with the Seminole Tribe of Florida that owns the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

“I am pleased to say that we have identified the products and services for our first business venture,” Schoengood said.
