Triple Play is a weekly NJBIZ feature that asks top executives in New Jersey to talk about three things related to their industry.
Margaret Marcucci is the CEO & President of Coranet Corp., a technology solutions provider incorporated in New Jersey. A longtime resident of Chatham, Marcucci is committed to growing the business and civic community here and takes a leadership role among Women Business Enterprises (WBE's) in the state.
We asked Margaret for three thoughts on the future of cloud services
The Cloud is Burgeoning: Use of the cloud computing solutions is growing in enterprises of all sizes. More than 50 percent of American companies now use public or private cloud computing systems. Cloud computing can reduce infrastructure costs and provide other benefits, but the security risks and even the terminology in use can be overwhelming to business owners.
Know the Issues: Data in the cloud is generally regarded as more difficult to secure than on-premises options. You should assess your business infrastructure needs and risks, which might include hacker penetration of access points, devices and servers.
Plan Ahead: Avoid the temptation to rush into a solution. Before migrating to the cloud, do a comprehensive plan for your move that addresses (a) data confidentiality (information restricted to authorized users); (b) data availability; and (c) data integrity (informational assets are protected against unauthorized alteration or deletion).
