This is my last post for Breaking Glass. Not because I don't love this blog — I really, really do — and not because I've grown tired of the women in business beat. It's quite the opposite actually. I'm leaving NJBIZ to cover women in business all day every day, on a national scale, as the editor for a brand new women in business news website, Bizwomen.com.
I was contacted a few weeks ago about the opportunity, and things progressed quickly. Before I knew it, I was flying down to Charlotte and staring down at an offer letter that would give me the chance to run this new website. If you would have told me a month ago that I would be leaving NJBIZ to run a national news website, I would have laughed out loud — probably hard enough to snort, as I occasionally do. But here I am.
Part of the reason I'm in this bittersweet place is because of this blog. My editor first floated the idea for Breaking Glass last summer. I thought it was great from the start, and when he entrusted me to run it, I was honored.
I will leave having some regrets for the posts that will be left unwritten. I can't say I've always had the time to do this blog justice. But mostly, I will be so thankful for the opportunity to delve deeper into the issues that women in business face, to hear about their challenges and successes, and to let our readers into my life every now and then. It's difficult for me to open up about my own experiences, but I have received nothing but wholehearted support from all of you every time I made the leap. Thank you for that.
And thank you for reading. There is no one yet who is officially taking the reins of Breaking Glass, but I know someone will. And I hope you keep reading then, too. I certainly will.
