Since its creation in 2000, the New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program (NJMEP) has created more than $2.5 billion in value and 20,000 jobs for state manufacturers by increasing sales, reducing costs and improving processes, according to a new report released Friday.
The report was prepared by the independent third-party Fors Marsh Group.
"We are very excited about the positive impact NJMEP has had on the manufacturing community and New Jersey's economy," John W. Kennedy, CEO of NJMEP, said in a news release. "This year, we look to introduce even more initiatives that will help manufacturers become more productive and globally competitive."
The NJMEP is planning a major advocacy campaign for New Jersey manufacturers this year through its Pro-Action Network, a program that embraces innovative technologies and places a strong emphasis on market growth.
As a not-for-profit consulting company, the NJMEP helps small to mid-sized New Jersey manufacturers become more profitable and competitive by providing development, networking and productivity solutions for companies. In addition, it has an online directory of manufacturers and products for consumer and supplier access. The program is free to join for any New Jersey-based manufacturers.
