Vivint Solar, a full-service residential solar integrator, has begun its aggressive expansion in New Jersey with offices in Sayreville, Mount Laurel and Toms River.
The company will create 200 in-house staff positions at these locations, including sales team members, surveyors, installers, electricians, permit administrators and coordinators.
Vivint Solar started with its first and most successful New Jersey office in 2011, and doubled its customer base by over 300% from 2012 to 2013 according to Kady Cooper, director of Public Relations.
With over 130 employees at its current Pine Brook location, Vivint Solar has received great feedback from the state's receptive market, indicating a growing acceptance of solar as a mainstream energy source for homeowners.
"Governor Chris Christie is in favor of renewable energy sources, especially for utility and commercial purposes," Cooper said. "Therefore, New Jersey residents have consistently topped the list of solar adopters."
The 2013 U.S. Solar Market Insight report named New Jersey as one of the top five states for both residential and non-residential installers—it also reported a 41 percent nationwide increase for photovoltaic installations since 2012.
"We build, install, maintain and insure our own power plant on consumers' roofs," Vice President of Sales Chance Allred said. "We create energy from the sun right where it's used."
Consumers pay for energy the panels produce through power purchase agreements, but do not incur additional out-of-pocket installation or monitoring costs. Even if local utility rates change, Vivint rates do not—in addition, Vivint offers substantial savings for its consumers by charging an average of 12 cents per kilowatt hour as opposed to the average New Jersey utility charge of 17 cents.
As one of the fastest growing solar energy companies in the U.S., Vivint Solar prides itself on providing a seamless, effortless customer experience by using highly automated, efficient designs and installation processes.
Additional Vivint Solar operations are located in California, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Washington D.C, with expansions expected to continue.
