Multiple media reports say generic drug maker Actavis could announce a major acquisition this morning.

Actavis of Morristown is close to announcing a deal to acquire New York City-based Forest Laboratories, multiple media outlets announced early this morning.

The Wall Street Journal, which was first to announce the news, cited sources saying the deal could be worth around $25 billion.

It would be the latest acquisition for Actavis, one of the world's largest generic drug makers, which relies heavily on mergers and acquisitions to build its company and sustain its growth, according to Bloomberg.
