One of North America's largest IT solutions providers, Somerset-based SHI International Corp., announced Thursday revenue of $5 billion in 2013, a 15 percent increase over 2012.

SHI posted $1.5 billion in revenue for the fourth quarter, also 15 percent better than the same period last year.

According to the announcement from the company, SHI's public sector, corporate and enterprise commercial sales departments each surpassed $1 billion in revenue for the first time in 2013. Combined, the strategic enterprise and international divisions accounted for an additional $2 billion in revenue for 2013.

"For a quarter century, SHI's expansion has been driven by our ability to efficiently connect IT organizations with the technology solutions that help meet their strategic objectives," said Thai Lee, President and CEO of SHI International Corp.

"If we were a public company, SHI's $5 billion in revenue would rank us among the Fortune 500, which includes many of our valued customers and partners. It's clear that the close relationships we've built with our clients, partners, and, of course, our employees have been — and will remain — the key to our success now and well into the future," she said.

In addition to its revenue growth, SHI added more than 400 new employees at offices throughout America and Europe in 2013, expanding its workforce to 2,500 employees, the largest in its history, the release said.

Lee was also named to the NJBIZ Power 100 list last month.
