Kinnelon-based Atlantic Engineering announced Tuesday it will merge with Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson Inc., an employee-owned Maryland engineering and architectural services firm.

According to the announcement, Atlantic Engineering's extensive expertise in marine inspections was a driving force behind the merger. The New Jersey company's experience in the investigation, repair design and construction inspection of structures such as bridges, dams, piers, bulkheads, ferry terminals, platforms, and water tanks is driven by 10 qualified divers and other professionals. Its headquarters is based in Kinnelon and has a second office in Toms River.
