McCarter & English partner named chairman of the Newark Regional Business Partnership NRBP president and CEO: Ferruggia was a logical choice

By ,

Frank Ferruggia, a partner with the Newark-based law firm McCarter & English, has been named the new chairman of the board of the Newark Regional Business Partnership (NRBP).

Ferruggia has been a member of the group's board of directors for more than two decades, according to a news release. And by a unanimous vote, the board elected him chairman for a two-year term.

Ferruggia, who joined McCarter & English in 1981, was a logical choice as chairman, said Chip Hallock, president and CEO of the NRBP, which is known informally as the city's Chamber of Commerce and counts more than 400 businesses, professional firms, institutions and not-for-profit organization as members.

Ferruggia's priorities will be to increase membership and continue the group's networking and advocacy activities on behalf of the business community, Hallock said.

"Frank is one of the Newark business people who clearly represents who we are and what we do," he said. "NRBP is known for connecting, informing and advocating for our members with the goal of revitalizing Newark and enhancing the region's economic competitiveness. Both he and McCarter & English have been consistently supportive of our efforts over many years."

According to the announcement, Ferruggia, a Bridgewater resident, has a national practice representing commercial property owners and tenants in property tax assessment litigation. He graduated from Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School and he received his law degree from Harvard. He is also president of the Greater Newark Holiday Fund.
